I just finished writing the Nurse Practitioner Entrepreneurship Report 2024. Given an increasing number of NPs and movement towards independent practice, there are a growing number of NP owned and founded practices. To get a handle on the trend, I analyzed 46,036 LinkedIn profiles of NPs, specifically looking at those who self-report as founders or owners.Some interesting insights:
- Montana has the highest rate of NP entrepreneurs
- The top specialty of NP founded practice is aesthetics (20%) followed by primary care (16%) and psychiatry (15%)
- There are an equal number of NP founders in Bismarck, ND as in Chicago, IL, while Chicago has 30x more NPs.
